Laced Launch Party

It’s finally happened, we held a launch party for our 6th release!

Cover boy Ash with editor and chief Jake

This event was meant to happen two years ago in Jindabyne Aus, we had the venue, artists, poster. We even had the beer sponsor on board with a couple of kegs and cases en route to the venue. But classic COVID had other plans.

Poster Well we finally made it happen, our moment in sun was held on a Sunday evening at a lively bar called Yonder in the heart of Queenstown. When I first got there for setup, no one knew the event was happening.. The staff were clueless to what laced was and there were people still in the cafe for food. Off to a great start. So I started to pull the place apart. While these leisurely humans sipped their lattes, I pulled artworks off the walls and removed tables from underneath their plates.

Feel the love

Happy customer. More happy customers.

Steph and Pedro kicked off the music with some acoustic cover outside, easing the pints unto our mouths. Followed by a a punk band called Company of Wizards, who were forced to play as a two piece, due to their bassist refusing to play in protest to their drummers solo act ‘Oskillah’ being cancelled from the bill.. Oscar was more than happy to drum out the set on the night though.. Controversial. The night was then closed out by young Wanaka weapons Powder Chutes. These kids rock! \m/ They’ll be going places for sure.

Rock on Liam

The most nerve-racking part of the night was when I had to get on the microphone and speak in front of a bar full half pissed yahoos. A couple of cans of courage and I managed not to bore the crowd. We were lucky to have some rad sponsors on board to give away some free shit. Some raffles were drawn but the Jelly bean jar guessing comping was the true hit of the night (the count was 377) and the crowd favourite was definitely the drawing comp. There was some creative drawings handed in that night but I honestly thought they're would've been more dicks. I guess everyone is a little more mature than me. Thanks to SLDR Vision, FiveEight Supply, Quest and Emersons brewery for the support!

No dicks..

All in all the night was a success! The turn out was amazing, the love was felt! Yonder is going to need a new dance floor because we definitely cut the shit out of that place! Beers were drank, art was enjoyed, music was rocked and from all reports, ya’ll had a great night. From what I can remember, I did too.

Ware-able art

Thanks for coming and hanging out everyone. Let’s do it again.

Jake.
